Friends and Fiji

I have been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator since 1999 but, with the exception of the first five years, they have been as a hobby demonstrator (more because of circumstance than desire).   On my way to the Stampin’ Up! convention in 2004, I received word that my mom (and best friend) had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.  My world was shattered.  I had a hard time functioning, much less being a demonstrator.   I could barely think of stamping, scrapping and crafting because it was a passion I shared with Mom, and the memories, while wonderful, were also painful.

Almost exactly 10 months later, while I was still deeply grieving, my husband broke his neck and back in a fall from a roof. The accident completely shattered his C-6 vertebrae and broke three bones in his lower back. The doctors said it was a miracle that he not only is alive, but that he was not paralyzed from the neck down.  They stated the obvious - his Angels were definitely with him that day.  He has lived with constant pain, some of it reducing a big, strong man to tears, and he has endured four surgeries.  Both his C-6 and his C-7 have been completely rebuilt with bone from his hip.

I work full time and in addition to raising three children, I have had to take on more responsibilities than many wives do because of my husband’s condition.   I am telling you this, not for sympathy, but as an explanation of why my presence on my blog  and as a Demonstrator has been very limited.  BUT THAT’S ABOUT TO CHANGE!!

I just returned from this year’s Stampin’ Up! convention, and I brought back with me a renewed desire and passion for papercrafting and for cultivating new, lasting friendships that have always been the most cherished part of my Stampin’ Up! life.   I had put my creative life and making new friends on hold for over seven years now, but it’s time for to get back in the saddle, and I need your help!

It is such a helpless feeling to watch the person you love most in the world suffer through continual pain. It’s really a helpless feeling because you can’t do anything for him.  When they announced that the incentive trip for 2013 would be in FIJI, I realized that while I can’t do much to relieve his pain, I can create a Dream Experience for him, and maybe for a short time, he can ignore his body and just enjoy living.  In order to earn this trip for him, I must rebuild my Stampin’ Up! business.  I believe returning to one of my greatest passions will also make me a better wife.  You know the old saying, “If Mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy!”

If you are reading this blog, it’s because you share my passion for Stamps, Scrapping and Paper Crafting.  Have you ever thought of purchasing the amazing Stampin’ Up! product for a discount?  Stampin Up! makes it easy.  Now through July 31st, you can order a Stampin’ Up! Starter kit for only $99!  So, depending on your needs, you can either start an incredible business for only $99 or you can become a hobby demonstrator (think “Discount Club Member”) and get a great discount on the types of products you already use and love.  To make it even sweeter, during this promotion, you will not only receive all the products in the starter kit, but you will receive this AWESOME bonus Christmas Keepsake Boxvalued at $40!

That’s like getting a whole starter kit, and the ability to purchase wholesale for only $59! To get started, click on this link and Join Now!  Your password is thestampqueen.  Joining the Fun will enable you to get a great discount or build a great business.  Don’t just help me take my husband to Fiji...let’s go to Fiji together! To make the deal even sweeter - the first three people to sign up for a Demonstrator Discount will receive an ADDITIONAL Christmas Keepsake Box FREE!

Not really interested in Fiji or discounts, but love great products?  Feel free to place your order on my website, or contact me directly.  Here is the link to the online catalog.  If you prefer a hard copy, contact me.

I will keep you updated on the “Friends and Fiji” progress monthly, and starting in August, I will upload new projects to my blog at least twice a month.

There is so much more to share with you, but this post is already WAY too long.  Request more information by adding your name to my Newsletter list and let’s be new friends!

Thanks so much and Happy Stamping!

Happy Valentine's Day, Sweetie!

My guy is a combo Cowboy/Handyman.  He grew up building houses with his dad and has held various jobs where his handyman skills have been a prerequisite.  His current position, Ranch Manager, encompasses the Cowboy and Handyman side of him.  He makes sure the animals are well taken care of, he checks the fence line (however, these days, his horse is his Quad), he repairs the tractors that constantly break down during the "hay" season, etc.

I have been stamping and scrapping since before we were married.  I have stamped cards for him on every occasion.  I usually get the "thank you, that's nice, Sweetie" comments and the cards are quickly relegated to the drawer.  Last year, after a segment on Studio 5 about 'manly" cards, I made a Father's Day card for him made out of different hardware pieces.  He kept the card out and showed it to everyone.  It's been months since Father's Day and he still talks about the card.

Of course, with Valentine's Day, I wanted a card he wouldn't just shove in the drawer again.  Below is a picture of some of the items I purchased for his card.  To be honest, the only item used in the making of the card that is Stampin' Up! are the two punches and the hemp twine.

The picture isn't great quality, but what you see are tie plates, sandpaper, hook, eyes, nuts, nails, hinges, fence staple (I guess that's what that is - I just raided the Cowboy's tools) and drywall mesh.

I used the the Full Heart Extra Large punch (Item #119883 - $16.95) to cut three large hearts.  Two from the  drywall mesh (black) and one of the sandpaper.  (I should note that the punches I used are both Stampin' Up! but were purchased prior to the new, sleeker, easier storing punches.  If you want one, while the cut-out shape is the same, you would receive the new low-profile punch.)

As usual, I forgot to continue taking pictures throughout the creative process, but I took two nails, crossed them into an "X" and tied them together with the hemp twine.  I positioned two of the "X's" and a nut on the Large Full Hearts and positioned them on one of the tie plates.  I hooked the two tie plates together with a hinge.  I used glue dots to hold everything on except for the hinge, which had some extra help from a brad.

I really like the front of this card.  It's girlie enough to satisfy my inner woman, but he will appreciate the sentiment in the X's and O's.

I had to cover some printing/labels on the inside cover, which was where I used the Heart-to-Heart Extra Large Punch (Item #119881, $16.95).

For the inside, main portion of the card, I used sandpaper as my layer piece and created a sentence out of other hardware and a few letters.  In hindsight, I wish I had used one of our Alphabet Sets for the letter parts of my sentiment, but I'm too lazy to go back and correct it.

And, if you are hardware challenged like I used to be, the inside translates into  "I'm hooked on you."

Remember, it's still Sale-A-Bration (translation - FREE STAMPS!)  For more info, see post below.

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope it's a Wonderful, LOVE-filled day for you and yours.

Hugs,
Randee

Never too old for Goofy Stuff - Punch Art

In August, I joined three of my closest friends in Wisconsin for a stamping weekend marathon!  We laughed and stamped and ate and started all over again.  There was very little sleeping involved and we had a great time!  Here is one of the darling cards we made.  It uses Top Note and Scallop dies, flower punch and the senitment is from the set "Smarty Pants."

NEW! NEW! NEW!

Wow, Stampin' Up! continues to amaze me. Each year (I've been with SU! over 10 years now) keeps getting better and better. I know you probably tire of hearing this, but I'm very excited to announce that our next Occassions Mini is introducing some FABULOUS new products!

How about Clear Mount Stamps?? What does this mean? Well, for years, many Demos and Customers have wanted clear stamps for multiple reasons. It's easier for stamp placement, easier for storage and just plain cool. SU! had not followed this trend for a very good reason; the acrylic/clear stamps simply do not have the stamped quality of rubber mounted stamps. Well, SU! has done it again. They have developed a rubber-mounted stamp (which gives superior stamping images)that applies to a clear block. They are stored in DVD style cases and they ROCK! I haven't been able to do a little video on them, (I'm still having equipment challenges), but if you want to see what they look like and how they work, let me know and I'll send you a link to a video a friend of mine did.

New Punch Style! They close shut, are low profile and take up a lot less storage room. YES! If you want to see them in person, let me know. You will love, love, love them!

Awesome New Papers...I'm not sure which ones I love best!

While I can't share the Occassions Mini with you yet because of SU! restriction, trust me that you will want to see one and you will want many things contained it it.

Also, the Occassions Mini debuts at the same time as Sale-A-Bration! For those of you who don't know what Sale-A-Bration is (SAB)....in two words it's "FREE PRODUCT!" For every $50 you spend on stamps and accessories from Jan 5 - March 31, you get to choose from free stamp sets. This year, not only can you choose from stamp sets, but there is a wonderful new punch, papers and you can even choose some items from our 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog!

This is a GREAT time to book a workshop with me and get lots of FREE HOSTESS product and FREE SAB products too! I have limited space available, so call me as soon as possible. If you want to host a workshop at my house, we can do that too.

Have I said that SU! ROCKS!

Looking forward to stamping and scrapping with you in the near future!
Stampinly,
Randee

My Digital Studio

And I'm so excited I can't sleep! The new "My Digital Studio" has arrived and it's so FABULOUS I can't believe it! Ladies, I can't begin to tell you how awesome this product is. If you love scrapping and love computers, this is the PRODUCT for you! I don't have room here to tell you all the awesome things it does, but I can tell you that I have used PhotoShop Elements and various other online sources to create scrapbook pages, books, etc., and this is SO much better and easier! And it comes with tons of digital stamped images, all our colors, lots of fonts, memorized layouts to make things easier, etc. If you would like to see a Digital Demonstration, please let me know and we will get together. One of the neatest things is the ability to do great hybrid pages! Ask me about that if you don't know what I mean. You don't have to purchase your pages/books through Stampin' Up!, but the prices are better than I get on other sites! It is $79.99 and well worth the price! Place your order now!

In addition to being able to order your "My Digital Studio," you can also take advantage of awesome savings with our "Deal of the Week!" This week the special is:

WOWZA! Lots of great news...please read it all!

I just returned home from the annual Stampin' Up! convention and all I can say is, "WOWZA!" I am so excited about all the new product and offerings.

My favorite is "My Digital Studio." This product is coming soon and is the best, easiest to use I have seen out there so far. I'm very excited about this. I have spent the last couple years playing with digital scrapping and various software offerings out there. I can save you lots of time and money when I say this truly will be AMAZING! In addition to hundreds of templates, accessories, papers, stamps, etc that will already come imbedded in the software product, you will have the opportunity to add additional components as they become available from SU! What I love the best is that SU! has worked with vendors to ensure exact color matching on our exclusive colors so that you can create hybrid pages and cards. How cool is that? This is really big! Of course, you can always do your own printing or send it to another online service, but our prices are great! You will be able to create and print various sized albums/books, single pages and/or send a digital scrapbook (video included) to friends and family! I would love to share this with you, so please let me know if you are interested in Digital Scapping. I'd love to share it with you. By the way, I finally settled on the difficult to learn, hard to use Photoshop Elements for my scrapping and photo editing and I'm happy to tell you that the "My Digital Studio" has the same features and abilities without the difficult to learn software.

My next favorite is the "Build-A-Bear" product line. Oh my goodness! Stampin' Up! has partnered with Build-A-Bear and do we have some fun, fun stuff for you! Not only do we have exclusive stamp sets and papers created for our Build-A-Bear product line, but we have exclusive die cuts for our Big Shot machine! Now you can create your own Build-A-Bear experience in your own home!

Have you ever considering becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator...either to purchase your own product or to earn a little extra income? Now is the time to do it! Until August 31, you can purchase your own SU! mini starter kit for only $85! (Here is what is included in the kit and can be customized.) As a demonstrator, you not only can make a nice income, but you can purchase product at a 20-40% discount. You can also earn hostess benefits (more FREE product) on your own orders, along with qualifying for tons of other freebies. In addition to this, you will have access to all SU! materials, the website, tons of great ideas and you can choose to go to CONVENTION, the most AWESOME experience! You make wonderful new friends and it's just FUN, FUN, FUN! There is so much more to tell you, so please call or email me for more information or visit my SU! website. If you sign up with me as a new demonstrator on or before August 31st, you will also receive an additional $25 in product from me to get you started!

HOSTESS, HOSTESS....Stampin' Up! has terrific hostess benefits and they have just made it even sweeter! Hostess a workshop between September 1 and November 30th, and in addition to earning all the wonderful hostess benefits and free Idea Book and Catalog, you can also qualify to purchase any one item (excluding My Digital Studio or Hostess Sets) for $10. So, if we have a $42 item, you can purchase it for only $10....plus get all your free hostess gifts! Hosting a workshop is great fun and now, with my "Pick two" style workshop, you get to customize your workshop experience. Your friends will thank you for inviting them! We always have a blast, and as my hostess, I promise to pamper and spoil you with all sorts of fun and treats! All you have to do is invite your friends and provide a simple, easy finger food. I'll do the rest for you!

I am in the process of updating my calendar with workshops, classes, stamp camps and just "come stamp with me" crafternoons or evenings, so please let me know if you are interested so I can ensure you know my event dates! I am back in business after a few years of tending to a husband who broke his neck and back and I'm here to stay! (Yes, he is doing better after his last surgery.)

Whether you want to purchase product, become a demonstrator (for the discount or a business), want to hostess a fun-filled workshop or come play with me, let me know. I can't wait to see you!

Hugs,
Randee

Repurposed Starbucks

Okay, how many of you love Frappuccinos? I do, but it's so hard to justify the expense.....unless you need them for a craft project! This is for you, Kristine. I needed a birthday gift for a co-worker. She always likes the little cards or projects I bring into work, so I thought she might like this. I used mostly Stampin' Up! products on this. She loved it and I had a great time making it.

These aren't the best pictures because I didn't really take them with blogging in mind, but you get the idea! I filled one bottle with Hersey's mini candy bars, another bottle with kisses and the other two with bath salts.

Here is the actual container that I repurposed, along with the gift bag.

I created a pattern for covering the Frappuccino holder. I'm working on scanning them in, so if you would like them emailed to you, let me know and as soon as I have them scanned, I'll send them to you.

Happy Crafting!
